Time graph for S.W.A.T. Extreme Weight Loss & Fat Burning
A no-nonsense, calisthenic-style program led by Tom Stroup, a real SWAT team commander. The aero/tone intervals keep you burning calories as you build lean muscle. The cardio segments are easy-to-follow but tough — a mix of sports moves, athletic training and military drills. The toning sections include a varied medley of proven body-sculptors like lunges, push-ups, bicep curls and tricep extensions. Tom is motivating and intense, but also friendly and supportive (never “in your face” harsh). “SWAT-style” setting with flashing lights and police vehicles. DVD has a bonus 6-minute ab workout. Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2008. DVD has: Chapter menus, Region 1.

S.W.A.T. Extreme Weight Loss & Fat Burning

Great workout!
This is a great overall workout. I'm intermed-adv & found this a challenge, but doable. I love this style of boot camp workout instead of dancey moves. Tom states that the girls are regular people, not SWAT members. The 6 min abs is awesome. - posted by Cher on 11/9/2008
Don't bother
This workout was wimpy and the large breasted woman in it are definatly not Swat members. Never got my heart rate up and the toning segments were nothing special. Skip it and go to Cathe, Bento or Coffey - posted by Angela on 11/5/2008
Great Straight Forward Workout!
I was looking for a workout that would challenge me physically but wouldn't require too much coordination. Sometimes I want to work out hard without dancing around to much. I purchased the S.W.A.T. workout and was pleasantly surprised. Commander Tom is energetic and motivational, not annoying. I thoroughly enjoyed this workout! Athletic, drill type moves are what work for me right now and this workout delivered! - posted by Nicole on 10/29/2008
not as killer as I had hoped
I don't know man. I just did this work out for the first time today and I didn't feel like it was very "inter/advanced". (and I consider myself a high intermediate level) All that marching between sets kind of was lame. I just jump roped instead, but I just didn't really feel the burn in the way I hoped I would. I guess the idea was to get your heartrate up and down, but maybe I just don't understand the benefit of doing that well enough to really appreciate the low-key aspects of it...still, I liked the instructor and it's nice to have a guy in my rotation...In the end, I added 30 more mins of high level cardio to this workout without a problem.... - posted by megan on 10/4/2008
Awesome!
I love this workout! Commander Tom is a fantastic leader, has a great sense of humor and, of course, is easy on the eyes! I'm wiped out by the end of the dvd. I have been alternating this workout with the 30-day Shred dvd. I use the S.W.A.T. dvd when I have 45 minutes to work-out and Shred when I need a quick (but tough)30 minute work-out. I'm 48 years young, am probably an advanced intermediate and prefer non-choreographed dvds so that I may focus on my work-out and not on keeping up with dance moves. ***** - posted by Sandi on 10/3/2008
Love it!
I have gotten great results from this work-out.I usually do Cathe so I was surprised that this was so tough!Love the instructor, he's very nice to look at. - posted by Joanna on 10/3/2008
Workout Anywhere with SWAT!
I just had a baby and I am confident that following the SWAT Workout will help me get back my pre-baby body. It is a challenging and energizing workout and Commander Tom knows how to make sweating fun! The best part about the SWAT Workout DVD is that you can do it anywhere. I just came back from a trip to Italy and did the SWAT Workout in my hotel room from my computer. No more excuses.......exercising is easy when you have the SWAT Workout on DVD. - posted by Denyse on 9/28/2008
Challenging but fun!!
I really like Commander Tom as an instructor. He is very reassuring and motivational throughout the workout. I am at an intermediate level and this was my first boot camp workout. It was challenging, but FUN!! I am looking forward to adding this one into my workout rotation. - posted by Kim on 9/24/2008
Challenging, fast moving and great way to Burn Fat!
I do this workout at least 3 times a week and really feel like I have challenged myself. Not boring at all. Tom really explains and demonstrates all exercises well, does them himself and has a whole crew of great women who follow along. You really feel like you are in a virtual classroom with him. The six minute ab section is awesome!! I wanted something fast, effective and not something that would bulk me up around the waist. Buy it for sure and tell others! - posted by Wendy on 9/23/2008
Excellent!
This is a circuit training DVD that will make you fit in no time. Commander Tom is likeable. He cues well and his moves are easy to follow. This is a little bit long for my schedule but I do this on Sundays when I have more than 1/2 hr to exercise. The abs section is short but very challenging. I was panting and sweating like crazy at the end. I was drinking water in between (during the marching in place part).I alternate this with Jillian's 30 day Shred for my Strength days. All the other reviews are correct that this will give results fast as long as you eat sensibly. I highly recommend this DVD to add to your collection. - posted by Rina on 9/20/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
