Qualifications: Has taught dance and fitness for 30+ years. Has an MS in Counseling Psychology.
Personal History: I live in Del Mar, California, with my husband and daughter. I have an especially active lifestyle as I take pleasure in walking, hiking, biking, and, most of all, dancing. My passion is tap dancing, which I enjoy weekly. I feel best when keep my body in motion. I developed my Chair Dancing concept when, as a result of a fractured foot, I began teaching my dance and aerobic classes from a chair.
Workout Philosophy: Exercise is the greatest gift we can give to ourselves and those who love us. I want to help people realize how good exercise will make them feel. I recognize that many people have 'real' reasons why they can not comfortably participate in various forms of exercise, including walking. Often, I hear claims that it is impossible for people to work out (their feet hurt, their knees bother them, or they're too overweight and out of shape to begin with). I love to be able to inspire them and say, “You can Chair Dance!”
Success Story: "I combined Jodi's Chair Dancing with a very sensible diet and, by doing so, I lost over 60 pounds. My blood pressure dropped from 263 to 123 - my blood sugar levels were so low for such an extended period of time that I was able to give up my medication all together. My attitude and 'happy quotient' were elevated as I enjoyed my minimum of five days a week routine of exercising with Jodi. I needed to have my knee replaced, but was so overweight that it posed a danger of death due to blood clots. I wanted to exercise, because diet alone sure wouldn't do it and finding Chair Dancing gave me the possibility of helping myself achieve my goals, which I did with an A+. I owe a lot to Chair Dancing and Jodi for developing such an easy to follow and fun-to-do program."
